INTERVIEW WITH JASON LANCASTER OF GO RADIO
Sara: First can you introduce yourself and say what you do in the band?Jason: I’m Jason Lancaster and I play guitar and sing in Go Radio
S: How would you describe your music to somebody who’s never heard your band before?J: Just rock ‘n’ roll, that’s pretty much it y’know? Uh honest rock ‘n’ roll.
S: What made you want to play that kind of music?J: Life, just growing up and I was surrounded by that my entire life and that’s what it’s always been for me.
S: Who are some of your musical influences?J: Um, Connor Oberst, Ben Gibbard, The Alman Brothers, Eric Clapton. It’s just a really really wide range of anybody I’ve ever listened to pretty much and y’know I like to think that we get influenced by everybody
S: Do you guys try and show how much all music has influenced the band in your music?J: We don’t try but I feel like it definitely comes out
S: Did you ever see a band in concert that made your realize you wanted to be a musician for the rest of your life?J: Every time I’ve ever been to a concert it makes me realize how much I want this. I mean my dad was a musician so I can’t ever remember a time that I didn’t go to shows or wasn’t surrounded by music, so nobody really was the spark.
S: How did you meet everybody in the band?J: Just hanging out in Tallahassee, everybody kind of hangs out in or is from the same area so we all kind of integrated really well.
S: What would you say is the best show you’ve ever played?J: I would say probably any hometown show. Hometown shows are always gonna be the best shows just because you’re gonna have the most energy there, all your friends are there, so it’s always better.
S: Is there anywhere you really wish the band could play, like another country or a venue you’re aiming for?J: Literally any show, we just want to play. I guess you could say selling out Madison Square Garden will always be a goal, but we just love to play, it doesn’t matter where.
S: So how’d you come up with the band name?J: It was one of those things where it just sounded right.
S: Is there anything else you’d like to add?J: I’m pretty sure we covered anything and everything people need to know!
