Being a Gleek is Officially Cool
Today the cast of Fox’s new hit show Glee, started the “Glee release tour” which has two dates in New York, one in New Jersey and one in Los Angeles. People of all ages, genders, and ethnicities gathered today, November 2nd, the first day of the tour, at Roosevelt Field Mall to meet the cast of Glee. They gathered there as early as 3AM to ensure that they would meet their favorite television personalities. The first 400 people in the doors of FYE who purchased the Glee Season 1 Volume 1 CD received a wrist band that would ensure that they’d meet the Glee stars. 75 anxious Glee fans at a time were escorted inside to line up an hour and a half before the actual signing began. The signing was being filmed and photographed from all angles and the fans couldn’t be more excited about what was to come. Although the Glee CD will be officially released on November 3rd, all these lucky people got to buy the CD a day early. They were more than happy to show off their treasured CDs. After countless hours of waiting, the clock struck 4. The once patient Glee fans turned impatient. People began chanting throughout the line: The chants went from “GLEE, GLEE, GLEE” to the call and response chant of “who do we want: GLEE, when do want them: NOW!” When the Glee stars arrived through an unexpected entrance the crowd started screaming. I felt like I was at the airport in New York in 1964 when the Beatles first arrived. Girls and boys were crying and shrieking and I wouldn’t have been shocked if somebody had fainted. Cameras were flashing from every which way, video cameras were coming in from every direction. It was the craziest moment I had ever witnessed. The paparazzi got to see the cast first and snapped some amazing photos. Then it was the fans turn. Many girls and guys had home-made Glee shirts, which the cast fully appreciated. I had never in my life seen a more enthused group of people signing autographs. It was as if the cast were as star-struck of their fans, as the fans were of the cast.
