About 30 eager teens sit in the shade backstage at Long Island’s Warped Tour date. What are they doing backstage while bands are playing you may ask. Well the answer to that is they’re waiting for Nick Santino & Justin Richards of A Rocket To The Moon to come & put on an intimate set for them. Nick comes to the secluded grassy area & all attention goes to him. Following him over is Justin. Cameras & cell phones come out for girls to get as much out of this as possible. Nick starts out the set with small talk to warm the crowd up. All he wants is people to sing along because he claims nobody ever does. They start the set with “She’s Killing Me” & shushed fans sing along. As the song ends, the fans cheer as loudly as they feel is acceptable. Then the guys go into “Baby Blue Eyes”, their summer love song. As the song wraps up, Nick asks for fan requests. So many shouts for Justin to sing Brighten, and Nick seems a bit aggitated by the request, and quips “or maybe we could play something we’ve both written, or that I’ve written.” So they play “On Your Side”, a song, Nick says “that they [we] wrote.” Following that they play their single,”Mr. Right” which excites the fans. When the set is finished there is a meet and greet between the guys and the lucky fans who got to come backstage and see them preform. The girls all get their own conversations with the guys and everyone seems happy.
If you got the chance to check out A Rocket To The Moon on their short stint on Warped Tour than hopefully you had as much fun as I did. And if you missed out on their set, hopefully you’ll get to catch them on one of their fall tours.
