Interview with Logan, guitarist of Bigger and Better Things, the next big thing hailing from Canada
Sara: What made you want to start playing music?Logan: Me personally, when I first started playing guitar. I was always interested in rock stars and rock ‘n’ roll. I think seeing Limp Biscuit and Blink 182 made me want to start playing guitar. Sara: So how did the band get started?Logan: It first started with the old singer, Andrew, and me, and then we found our drummer, Matt, through the old singer. Then we found Luc our guitarist also through our old singer. We had other members but it was first started with our old singer and me.Sara: How did you guys come up with the name for the band?Logan: I came up with it but I don’t remember how. Like I saw it somewhere or I heard it somewhere and I remember having the feeling of like “oh, that’s it.” I don’t remember exactly where or how though.Sara: If you could play anywhere in the world, where would you want to play and why?Logan: Um if we could play anywhere in the world?Sara: Uh huhLogan: Uh let me think about this one. *laughs* My friend says Nigeria, yea no that’s not it, where-ever that is on the map. Like honestly right now as a band I’d have to say California, LA, anywhere there really, that’s the only place we really fantasize about. Sara: What’s the music scene like in Canada?Logan: Um, let me think. Uh I’d have to say the pop-punk scene is very fickle, like barely any pop punk here at all. It’s there, but way smaller than it used to be. And also the music scene in Canada, overly it’s less exciting than the states. BUT, more dance oriented and actually I feel more pop oriented than the states, which is cooler. Sara: Since your kind of music scene isn’t as big in Canada, do you have any plans to come play in the US?Logan: That would be like a dream. We actually want to get out of Canada as soon as possible and play all over the US, all those major cities. That’s actually like our main ambition. Sara: Do you think it’s possible for you guys to make it to the US in the near future then?Logan: Yea I would say so. We’re actually in the process of getting a new van. We don’t want to buy a cheap van; we want to buy a really luxurious expensive one cause the last one broke. So that’s actually why we’re not touring. The second we get the dollars up and running and we can get the van going we’re hitting the road, and I get that working permit, we’re going right to the states. Sara: As of now you have one EP out, when do you plan on releasing or recording more music?Logan: We actually got out of the studio in June and we just finished recording one song called “Punk Rock is All a Lie.” It’s kind of like our single kind of thing for our next EP that’s gonna be coming out. We just got out of that recording so we plan to record a new EP in October maybe.Sara: Who are some of your musical influences?Logan: Ohmygosh uh Lil’ Wayne, NOFX, The Rocket Summer, Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, um who else, oh Lady Gaga, a lot of MelencolonSara: Who’s that?Logan: They’re like this Swedish punk band.Sara: Oh, that’s cool!Logan: *laughs* Yea!Sara: If you could be any superhero, which superhero would you be and why?Logan: OHMYGOSH, Let me think about this one. Uhhh. I would be Spiderman. I know that’s a little cliché, but I would love to just swing webs and fly around from building to building. That’s the most appealing thing out of all the superheroes. Sara: What’s your favorite thing about being in a band?Logan: The fact that I can get away with anything that I wouldn’t be able to get away with if I wasn’t in a band. Sara: ~laughs~ Like what!??!Logan: Likeeeeee, if I walk into Subway alone I wouldn’t be able to get a sandwich for free. But if I walk in with my band and we all bought one except for one band member, the Subway person would feel inclined to make another sandwich because they’re so excited by the fact that we’re in a band. That actually happened before on the road.  Like if I went to Subway alone and was like “MAKE ME A SANDWICH” the dude would just be like “sorry you’re not in a band, bye.” Sara: Maybe you guys could get sponsored by Subway one day.Logan: Oh man, that’d be like a dream come true. Sara: Is there anything else you’d like to say to our readers and your fans?Logan: We love you and as cheesy as this sounds, expect bigger and better things from Bigger and Better Things, we’re changing music, at least pop-punk.
