This Cigar (EP Version)
Josiah Leming
This Cigar - Josiah Leming

Josiah Leming, you may recognize him from his brief stint on American Idol, Season 7. He didn’t make it past Hollywood week, but he was an early favorite of everyone, including Simon Cowell, who was the one judge who wanted him to make it through to the live tapings. In order to try and make it big as a musician, Josiah moved into his car to travel the world and perform. Josiah’s mother has cancer and his main goal in his life, as a musician is to have his CD be released while his mother is still alive. His first EP release as a signed artist was, Angels Undercover, and was released on Warner Brothers in late 2008. The EP has five songs on it, and every song I could listen to on repeat for ages. My favorite song out of all of them though is the opening number, “Arctic Outcry Wind”. It’s a very relatable song and that is mainly why I absolutely adore it. Another great song on this EP is “To Run”, if you were a fan of Josiah on his stint on American Idol then you may remember this tune. Josiah sings about a boy who is still in love with a girl who doesn’t seem to want him anymore. It’s a sweet love song that in the right context could draw more than just a few tears. “This Cigar” is a song that depicts Josiah’s life. It’s about a young musician who has been told all these things that you’re supposed to do inorder to make it. It’s a very interesting and beautiful song and one of my all time favorite songs he has ever written. “Angels Undercover” and “Theysay” are the two other songs on this EP that are slow piano jams. It would definitely be worth your time to check out Josiah Leming’s other music. He has a CD, Come On Kid, that should be released sometime this year and he does weekly stickam chats every Sunday at 6:30PST. Last night at 12AM, so technically this morning, Brighten finally released a new song. The song is called Without You and is Brighten’s first officially release of a song off of their EP Be Human which will be released on March 23rd. The song seems to get more from A Rocket To The Moon than they probably meant to do, but the song is still amazing. It’s great to finally hear Justin’s voice front and center again, since he’s been backing Nick Santino of A Rocket To The Moon for what feels like decades now. Brighten being back is exciting for everyone, hopefully this song and EP means a tour will follow, but who knows how long Nick will be willing to let go of Justin and how long Justin will be willing to let go of A Rocket To The Moon. This song made me very excited for the EP and I am now counting down the days until it’s released.
