One Thing - One Direction

The British are invading America, again, this time in the form of a boy band. Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson together are, One Direction. They began on UK’s X-Factor, initially auditioning to be solo artists and ended up to be a group with the mentor of no other then, Simon Cowell. Signing a record deal with Syco Records after the X Factor (Columbia Records in the US), and a new era of  boy bands was born. With good looks and incredible talent, it was no surprise that teenage girls were swooning in the UK, with their album Up All Night, debuted #2 on the UK charts.

After being the number one fastest selling single 2011, One Directions’ single ‘What Makes You Beautiful’, ended up being the Best British Single at the Brit Awards this year. So, why wouldn’t you take this boy band across the pond so girls (and boys) of all ages could reminisce back to the 90’s? Big Time Rush snatched them up as an opener for their Better with You Tour, promoting their sophomore album, Elevate. When word got out that two of the most popular boy bands of this decade were touring together, tickets were immediately sold out. 

Up All Night, was released on March 13th in the United States. Already debuting at the top of the charts on I-tunes, it’s no surprise that One Direction has stolen the hearts of all ages. The album has all the songs that a boy band would be expected to have, but with a twist. Heavy drum beats, that lead to a catchy chorus that make you want to dance around. Bringing you back to the good ol’ days. The album starts off with What Makes You Beautiful, a great song to catch the ears of many, promoting that beauty is seen within. The album is full of great harmonies from the boys and lyrics that get stuck in your head  Giving the album a serious note with a slower song is the love ballad, More Than This. The band who’s songs you always have stuck in your head, One Direction, definitely have made an impact within this short time span.

Overall, Up All Night has everything that you would expect to be in a boy band’s album. Other than their stylish looks and their adorable accents that make you swoon, they mesh really well together, and are doing something different. Blowing up on social network sites overnight, and being themselves has captivated hearts all over the world. Up All Night, is anticipated to be number one on the charts of Billboard, quite soon. So what’s next for this British group? Becoming a musical guest on SNL on April 7th, and hitting the states on a tour are in the works. Lets face it, boy bands will never go away and I’m all right with that.

One Direction

One Direction got their start on X Factor last year. Although they did not win the competition, they have been growing in popularity all over the world. Especially by stealing the hearts of many teenage girls with their voices.  

Their debut album “Up All Night” comes out tomorrow (November 21^st, 2011) in the United Kingdom and features their chart topping single, “What Makes You Beautiful” as well as many other captivating songs like their second single, “Gotta Be You”.

The voices of Harry Styles (17) Niall Horan (18) Zayn Malik (18) Liam Payne (18) and Louis Tomlinson (19) make up One Direction. Their unique voices are distinguishable throughout every one of their songs, making their album very addictive.

This adorable group of guys is sure to be a success in both the UK and America so catch them on their United States tour with Big Time Rush in 2012!
