Why Am I The One

Why Am I The One - Fun.

From having their hit single “We Are Young” covered on Glee to being featured on a super bowl commercial, Fun. has had a very exciting past few months. The release of their sophomore album, “Some Nights” is set for February 21st and it seems to have all the elements of a chart-topping pop album.
Unlike the classic sound of “Aim and Ignite”, this album has songs like “It Gets Better” that uses pop-rock drum beats, which in my opinion don’t really suit the sound of this band. It’s a weird feeling to hear clap-tracks and autotune surrounding the sound of frontman, Nate Ruess’ amazing voice in the song “Stars”. But, at the same time they still have heartfelt theatrical-sounding songs like “Why Am I The One” and “All Alone”.
I appreciate how this album is able to reach a common ground between the original sounds of the band while approaching a widely accepted sound fit for the radio. As a fan of the format and fun., I hope they achieve the success that they deserve from this album.

Fans got in line for The Wanted’s NYC concert debut starting at 3AM on the day of their show. Eager for the band to take stage, chants of “Wanted” rang throughout the sold out Irving Plaza from the second their fans entered the room. The moment the Wanted took the stage at Irving Plaza with their song Behind Bars, the crowd was going crazy. Fans young and old were clapping their hands and singing along to songs from their first and second albums. The crowd of American fans had been waiting forever to finally see this band perform and it did not seem like they were let down. Although they’re classified as a boy band, they proved their musical talents by playing the instruments to a cover of Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls. The atmosphere of this concert and the band’s stage presence, as well as their catchy songs made me want to become a fan. The Wanted will be performing in six more American cities before launching their 2012 United Kingdom Arena Tour, you won’t be sorry to check them out!

Going To Jail
Anarbor

Song- Going To Jail, Anarbor

Coming out with their first full length album on 4/20, The Words You Don’t Swallow, Anarbor took small risks. With each song sounding like the other, the whole album still comes together; clever lyrics as well as mellow tones that will make your head bob to the beat. Carefree and soothing in a way, it makes sense why they released the album on April 20th.

The overall feel of the album is calming and just wants you to relax, in my perspective of the view anyway. The Words You Don’t Swallow starts off with beats that easily catch your attention, while the lyrics are actually telling the audience things that will happen, or had already happened through their lives, like in The Whole World.

Taking it slow, pulling out the acoustic guitar and playing up the bass, Carefree Highway is something different; a feel for another side of Anarbor that I have been waiting to see come out for a while. As the album progresses, the rhythm gets faster making anyone that wants to dance (and fist-pump), have the opportunity too.

Don’t take it just from me, listen to The Words You Don’t Swallow and even catch Anarbor on this years Warped Tour 2010.

Must Listen: Going To Jail, the chorus is so catchy it’ll get stuck in your head for days, or maybe that is just me.

Take what you need but my music leaves with me.

Artist vs. Poet releases their debut album, Favorite Fix!

Emerging their way into the scene, Artist vs. Poet definitely did it with a bang. They released their debut album, Favorite Fix, on March 1st and it’s a great continuation from their self-titled EP. This CD is a nice combination between This Providence, The Summer Set, and a much better version of We The Kings. The album starts with “Car Crash”, the perfect setup for other tracks like “Favorite Fix” and “Broke But Not Broken”. They also show their softer, lyrical side with “Miserably Loving You”. This album is a must buy! Favorite Fix is guaranteed to be your favorite mix.
