The Wombats Interview

It was a dreary day in NYC when I set out to interview the UK rock band, The Wombats. As I headed up three flights of stairs at Webster Hall in NYC with one of their label execs, I could hear the band sound-checking, and for some reason I began to get nervous. Once we reached the balcony of the venue I was introduced to their tour manager, and told to take a seat, as they would be ready in five minutes. The Wombats were sound-checking and I watched a prepared myself for the upcoming show. As five minutes turned into fifteen minutes my nerves began to ease. The band wrapped up sound-check and I was escorted into their green room, where Tord and Dan, the bassist/keyboardist and drummer of the band greeted me with very eager smiles.

The Wanted, March 25th, Paramount Theatre, Long Island New York.

The Wanted made their USA debut only in January, the boys returned to the states in March having gone Platinum with their single “Glad You Came” and being the latest love interest for teenage girls, and boys, from all over the country. Having won us at L.I.F.E. Press over when we interviewed them back in January (check it out here) we got to cover their show again this time around.

Girls started lining up the night before The Wanted’s show, I even heard one group of girls had slept over night in a tent inorder to be front row to see the boys of The Wanted. Girls of all ages were in attendance of the show and this just proved that those who missed boybands and those who missed out on boybands were reveling in the resurrection of them. When the guys took the stage you could barely hear your own thoughts the screams were so loud. The best part of watching The Wanted perform is seeing just how happy they are about how far they’ve come. Numerous times throughout the set the members who weren’t singing would take out their in-ears and just smile out to the crowd and sort of shake their heads in disbelief. This humbling act made me respect The Wanted as a group even more than I had after meeting them. The guys played songs from both of their UK albums, and even did a Coldplay medley, which the parents, as well as the fans in the crowd thoroughly enjoyed. While the band doesn’t have choreographed dance moves, there was not one second where they weren’t moving about and keeping the fans engaged. If The Wanted are really good at one thing, it’s making their fans feel loved, and they even pull that off while onstage. For two songs Nathan brought out his piano, Tom and Siva got to rock out on guitar and Max played his bass, while poor Jay didn’t get to play his drums, he was still having a great time. So these guys can sing, play instruments, and are good looking to boot, what can’t The Wanted pull off? The Wanted closed the show with their hit single, Glad You Came, and the crowd went wild. If the girls were excited all night, I don’t even know a word to describe the feeling in the room when the guys began to sing Glad You Came. It was a nice closing number, as the song takes on a whole new meaning when you know they’re actually thanking you for coming. I would totally recommend seeing The Wanted to any fan of music. You may go in being skeptical, but I’m positive everybody in that room left as a fan.

Check out the world premiere of our new music video for “Misery”

Check out The Maine’s newest music video release for their song “Misery”. The Maine have taken a more indie/artistic route on their latest musical endeavor and we here at L.I.F.E. Press are loving it. The song is a bit mysterious and the music video shows that very well. The silhouetted figures and the old fashion contrasty coloring of the video makes this more than just a music video, but an artistic statement. The Maine wanted to move from the pop-punk/pop-rock genre they began in, and they very successfully have completed that task. I know for a fact I’m interested to stick around and see what The Maine have up their sleeves for us next. Keep posted here at L.I.F.E. Press to follow The Maine’s progression through the music world.

Zach Johnson (by Sara Feigin)
On Saturday January 14th I See Stars’ headlining tour made it’s stop in NYC. The boys of I See Stars took the stage with their song “End of the World Party” and the crowd went crazy. The energy of the room was insane, and from the minute the band took the stage to the second they finished there was an on going circle pit. The band fed off the crowds excitement and you could just tell everybody was having a blast. The boys will be on their headliner through January 29th and then hit the road again on March 9th to tour with Asking Alexandria. Be sure to check them out when they come to a town near you!

Mike Hranica, The Devil Wears Prada
On Tuesday December 13th I got to shoot the Dead Throne Tour. The line up was For Today, Enter Shikari, White Chapel and of course The Devil Wears Prada. The Devil Wears Prada are one of my favorite bands to shoot as they have so much energy. You can just tell how much each member of the band really loves what they’re doing. The band came on stage with strobe lights going off like crazy and fans going wild. The girls behind the barricade had been complaining all show about how badly they wanted TDWP to get onstage. Once TDWP took the stage the girls at the barricade went wild. The band’s energy took over everyone, even the fellow photographers in the pit were nodding their heads along with the beat. I watched the set halfway through and the crowd was going nuts. The response to their performance was amazing. If you like metal music of anytime you should definitely go check out The Devil Wears Prada next time they’re in town. They’re high energy and have enough break downs to keep you dancing, or moshing, all night through.
